Recently I traveled internationally for the first time and I had two main priorities when packing for my trip: pack as light as possible and stay connected while on the road. These priorities came together when I decided what kind of travel adapters to take with me when I travel. I wanted an adapter that could charge all my devices, wouldn’t take up too much space in my suitcase, and would work in all the countries I planned to visit.
Enter the Epika All-in-One International Travel Adapter† This adapter was an absolute lifesaver during my trip. It is lightweight at only 145 grams, compact and very practical with six different charging options. The adapter costs just $23 and has four USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and one AC jack for charging all your devices. UK and AUS prices are not available, but the US price converts to around £20 and AU$35.
The adapter includes three different plugs — US/AU, UK, and EU — that work in more than 150 countries. These plugs are extendable and retractable, meaning you can easily put the block in your suitcase without worrying about the plug protrusions. Had I not had this, I would have had to carry multiple pads and adapters to keep all my devices charged and usable during my trip, taking up valuable space in my suitcase and making me more likely to use one (or more). ) lose them.
I stayed in some very old hotels with very few outlets. Having the space for six different devices to charge all at once was invaluable and ensured that my devices were always fully charged before a big day of exploring a new city. And since I only needed one charger for my various cords, I no longer had to worry about packing and repacking my suitcase, which was a welcome stress reliever on this trip.
However, this product is not without its drawbacks. In some of the older hotels I stayed at the block proved a bit heavy for the outlets and would need to be propped up to prevent it from falling out overnight. Another frustration I had with the outlet is that it doesn’t convert the outlet’s voltage. While this didn’t prove to be a problem for me as I was mostly charging smaller devices; a few of my fellow travelers fried their hair dryers and other self care appliances when using the same appliance. The adapter has decent safety features to protect you and your devices, but if you don’t have to carry an extra converter or risk frying your devices, that’s one less thing to worry about.
Despite those minor frustrations, the Epika adapter still made my international travel much easier. Traveling internationally for the first time can be stressful, between making sure you have enough supplies and not packing too much, but this took a major worry off my plate.
