OnePlus Nord 2T vs POCO F4 5G: Design, Specs, Features

The OnePlus Nord 2T is available in two color variants: Gray Shadow and Jade Fog. It has a minimal design language with a smooth, glass-like back, with the logo in the middle. The edges are gently curved inwards to better fit the palms of your hands, and the camera module is located at the top left. The camera module itself has one large unit at the top for the main sensor, while the bottom unit houses two cameras and a third faux-hole for design proportionality. The bezels have a metal trim, while thin bezels and a hole for the front camera in the top left corner take care of the overall offering. It is also important to note that the Nord 2T is noticeably more compact than the POCO F4 and lighter at 190 grams. However, it is also slightly thicker, namely 8.2 mm.

The POCO F4 5G is available in three colors: Night Black, Nebula Green and Moonlight Silver. It has flat edges that give the phone a more upright stance, while the rear camera module at the top left is quite large. On the front, the bezels are about as thin as the Nord 2T, while the front camera sits in a drilled slot in the center. The POCO F4 5G weighs 195 grams, but is slimmer at 7.7 mm. However, due to the larger screen, it is larger in comparison.

Processor, storage and RAM

The Nord 2T runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC, with up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The processor is comparable to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC from POCO F4 5G – but while the latter performs better according to benchmark data, the MediaTek SoC is a more efficient unit.

The POCO F4 5G features the Snapdragon 870, which makes this combination an almost direct battle. It also features up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, leaving not much room to differentiate between the two – at least on paper.

The Nord 2T has a 6.43-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with HDR10+ certification, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and a 90Hz refresh rate.

In comparison, the POCO F4 5G has a 6.67-inch full HD+ E4 AMOLED display with HDR10+ certification and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 screen protection. However, it also gets a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother frame rates and also has Dolby Vision certification.

The Nord 2T features a 50MP primary rear camera powered by the Sony IMX766 image sensor, combined with an f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilization. It will also get an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera and a 2MP monochrome unit. It can record 4K videos at 30 fps and 1080p videos up to 480 fps. The front camera uses a 32MP sensor, which can record videos in 1080p.

The POCO F4 5G, meanwhile, has a 64MP primary camera on the rear with an f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilization. It has an 8MP ultra-wide camera and the 2MP unit here offers macro photography. The smartphone can record 4K 30fps and 1080p 60fps videos. It instead has a 20MP front camera, which can also record 1080p videos.

The Nord 2T has a 4,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging, which OnePlus says can be charged to 70 percent in less than 15 minutes.

In comparison, the POCO F4 also has a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging, which is advertised as providing 100 percent power in 38 minutes.

The Nord 2T comes with Wi-Fi 6 for gigabit-class Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 5.2 and NavIC support for GPS services. It has a fingerprint sensor below the display and uses USB-C for charging, but doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio port for wired earphones.

The POCO F4 has the exact same connectivity features but instead has its fingerprint sensor on the power button on the side.

OnePlus Nord 2T vs POCO F4 5G: Verdict

The POCO F4 5G offers the bigger screen with faster refresh rate and good performance at less than Rs 30,000. However, it comes with a slower charging speed.

The OnePlus Nord 2T should be of interest to those looking for a more compact phone, but can live with the lower refresh rate as a result. The performance should be almost equal to what POCO offers, and the charging speed exceeds that of the latter.

While both phones are positioned in the same way, the deciding factor will be which feature you prioritize as a buyer.
