The Kardashian-Jenner family, intentionally or not, is at the center of major pop culture conversations. And most of the time, they’re at the mercy of those conversations, which range from impossible beauty standards to how they make their living to controversial politics. By the way, Kim Kardashian has recently come under private and public anger over her children’s use of social media. Apparently the 41-year-old reality star knows very well how the internet blames her for ‘everything’, but she explains exactly how she lives and works despite the noise.
Lately, Kim Kardashian has been at the forefront of an ongoing debate about parenting after her ex-husband Kanye West publicly condemned her (several times). for letting their daughter North on TikTok† Online critics echoed his feelings that social media was no place for an 8-year-old, while others would point out that West never seemed to care much if their children were subjected to public forums before the divorce. For her March cover issue of Fashionthe former Keeping up with the Kardashians star touched on the hot topic and shared insight into her thought process, saying their family is blamed for:
Everything. There is definitely an influence, both positive and negative, on how an entire group of people see themselves because of social media. I can see that. I’m not blocked from the idea that it exists. But I try to think, okay, if I’m raising my kids, how would I react if I felt like there were things on TikTok or Instagram that I wouldn’t want them to see and be a part of ? We would have those conversations.
It’s as much as most parents have to consider in a digital age. But of course the spotlight is more on celebs and decisions that are ultimately made regarding their kids, so Kim Kardashian is constantly between a rock and a hard place that way. Not surprisingly, she handles public scrutiny by largely ignoring it. She said,
I’m just trying to live my life and be happy for people. And I think if you live your life like this, you block it. It’s like a racehorse putting on blinders so they can see clearly and straight. You just have to be that racehorse, put those blinders on and go. And if you try to look to your right or left, you’ll stumble.
Kim Kardashian keeping her head down as much as possible was indeed her main approach regarding her relationship with Kanye West. In the final season of Keeping up with the Kardashians, she largely avoided discussing him on camera, which took months after she filed for divorce. Only after West’s last TikTok comment did Kardashian to address his “hurtful” behavior to her. He responded by accusing his ex of have him do drug tests for custody visits and has since demanded apologies from the whole family† (He too want one from billie eilish.) However, most of the controversial posts have been removed.
However, it is unlikely that the internet will follow suit and stop criticizing Kim Kardashian. Still, apparently it doesn’t matter that much, because she has her blinders on and… plans to be “Team Me” for the rest of her 40s† The Kardashians are currently missing for the small screen, but you can find some options along the way with our TV schedule 2022†
