Detroit, Michigan, July 6, 2022 — Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions, Inc., (OTCPK:AITX), announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Robotic Assistance Devices, Inc. (RAD) has released a full video of the “Be Proactive Against an Active Gunner” event, along with a demonstration of its recently announced AI-based firearms detection analysis. The event took place on Thursday, June 30 at Westin Times Square in New York City.
The company believes there are hundreds of thousands of locations across the country, whether it be K-12 education, colleges and universities, commercial office buildings, transit and entertainment locations that could immediately benefit from this firearms detection technology. RAD’s solution is inexpensive, deploys quickly and provides an unbiased level of early detection of potential firearms-related events in and around these facilities.

The purpose of the event was to bring together technology leaders, law enforcement, legislators, school administrators, community leaders and victim advocates to discuss and assess sensible and affordable solutions that could mitigate a potential “active shooter” event. At the event, Steve Reinharz, CEO of AITX and RAD, demonstrated RAD’s analysis of firearms detection on 2 ROSA units, one at the event location in New York City and the other at the company’s facility in Detroit, Michigan.
“This was certainly the most important and engaging panel discussion I was involved in,” said Reinharz, who was also a panelist at the event. “The firearms detection solution that RAD recently announced is now needed in all schools, places of worship and other vulnerable properties.” During the demonstrations, the RAD ROSA units flawlessly detected the presence of a firearm and immediately initiated a series of locking procedures, including electronic locking of doors and emergency notification via audible and visual alerts, text messages and more.
The discussion also included Secret Holt’s participation. On January 23, 2018, Ms. Holt’s 15-year-old daughter, Bailey, was shot and killed by a gunman during the Marshall County High School shooting. “I think today’s meeting and demonstration was not only a game changer in security technology, but it was also a reassurance to me that there are still people in this world, like Steve and his staff, who care about the safety of our children and are extremely proactive in trying to prevent this nightmare from becoming a reality,” said Ms Holt.

Former FBI agent, multi-jurisdictional task force coordinator/supervisor, Troy McCanna participated as a panelist. McCanna was a first responder to the Oxford High School mass shooting on November 30, 2021 in suburban Detroit. “If you give a team supervisor who goes in with the mission to help and save children when you put them at the point of pain early, you will see dramatic changes in the outcome,” McCanna said of the solution. RAD. “It’s an advantage that would put first responders in a very good position.” McCanna left the FBI after a distinguished career spanning 23 years and joined RAD in early 2022.
Also on the panel was Craig Scatola, CPP, a police supervisor with nearly two decades of law enforcement experience in Westchester County, New York. Craig is currently the supervisor of one of the largest and most proactive School Resource Officer programs in Westchester County, spanning two school districts. Regarding RAD’s firearms detection technology, Scatola noted, “Every time you can get law enforcement officers to the shooter and cut that delay time, then they can immediately take law enforcement actions to neutralize the shooter, you save lives.”
RAD’s Firearms Detection identifies the presence of side guns and long guns. Immediately upon the detection of a firearm, RAD’s AI-powered analytics system will autonomously perform a variety of actions, including appropriately triggering local audible and visual alerts, locking and securing doors, notifying remote security personnel or onsite security personnel and law enforcement agencies – ideally before firing.
“The safety of our children should be at the top of everyone’s list. If we send our kids to school every day and know that this kind of security technology would protect them before an active gunman gets to the door, everything will be worth it,” Ms Holt concluded of the panel discussion.
RAD’s parent company AITX has applied for uplisting to the OTCQB. Future announcements will be made on the status of the OTCQB application.
