Zilis met Musk through her work at OpenAI, a nonprofit artificial intelligence organization he co-founded, according to Insider. She initially joined the project as a consultant and later joined OpenAI’s board of directors.
Zilis has also worked for Musk’s electric car company Tesla, where she spent a two-year period as a project director for the company’s AI projects, including the “Autopilot” semi-autonomous driving system. She has been working at Neuralink since 2017.
According to Insider, Zilis lived in San Francisco before moving into a mansion in Austin, Texas last summer. The home is valued at over $4 million on the Zillow real estate platform. Both Zilis and Musk reportedly listed the Austin mansion as their home address in court records.
Social Media Presence
Zilis Twitter Twitter account has more than 77,000 followers as of Thursday. She has regularly interacted with Musk’s tweets on the social media site, as well as developments related to his companies, including SpaceX.

“Artificial intelligence, biological intelligence and everything in between and beyond. Made in Canada,” says her Twitter bio.
In a May 14 tweet, Zilis told his followers to consider changing their Twitter feed in chronological order — a move Musk also advocated during his $44 billion acquisition of the $44 billion social media company.
“Seriously try tapping this button in the top right corner of your screen. My Twitter learning speed has increased since switching to chronological and it feels less like doom scrolling. Curious if others feel the same way,” she wrote.
Zilis last tweeted on July 3 and has not publicly commented on the Insider report.
